Translation and Transmission: Interactive Design
This interactive design project was for my third brief of Translation and Transmission, a module in my second year of university. The main focus of the brief was to focus on a topic of politics, mine being that of Male Mental Health. The idea behind the interactive book is to help men in ways that perhaps therapies cannot. It allows the user to explore and express their emotions in total privacy, to channel how they feel comfortably. It’s a confidential outlet called ‘Your Unrestricted Zone’, whereby individuals can personally fill it in, in total confidentiality. It’s created with hand drawn illustrations for a comfortable look, and black and white to keep emotions neutral when approaching the book. Each page proposes a different outlet therapy, which can help the individual should they carry it out monthly. At the end of the book it tells the individual how each page has personally helped them, as well as a QR code, taking them to the website surrounding this project (found in the side bar of links) – holding important links for men to keep in mind, and use in a crisis. This is so the interactive ideal around the book can carry on and provide further information to the individual, about where to go, and who to talk to.
